Huge drop in EU nurses since Brexit vote

Re: Huge drop in EU nurses since Brexit vote
It's easy to see this as lined to Brexit, etc. - and, without doubt, that may be a factor.
However, I am currently undergoing treatment in the UK and, after a procedure that required sedation, I asked the specialist nurse whether thare were any Portuguese nurses at that hospital.
"I think so," she said "...... but they tend to be ward nurses."
Of course, now that UK nurses have to be graduates, they all aspire to be specialists. So, I detect a slight friction - and "ward nurses" seem to be seen as being of lower status. If this is the case, that too might make a difference now that the first tranche of emigrants are able to advise their sisters at home.
