Take the train from Lisbon to Madrid and then the AVE train from Madrid to Sevilla.
Any other route *is* complicated. www.renfe.es has
the schedule for all legs of your trip.

Just a thought. If I was arriving into Lisbon and wanted to go 'down south' I may
consider taking one of the busses (coaches) to the Algarve. Start off by looking at
EVA http://www.eva-bus.com/ or one of the
local websites. Look at FARO for transport links. Sure that FARO to SEVILLE is a
regular trip (under 3 hours) as it's mostly motorway and there is a bridge over the
river ! Also this way it will be less expensive than using the Madrid Seville AVE.
Bus trips in Portugal and Spain are good value.

Getting the connections timing down on that route is quite difficult and IMHO not
worth the cost savings.

Re: getting to the train station in Lisbon from airport
It can get a bit complicated depending on which station the train leaves from. Does
your ticket say which station?

There is no such direct train. There is no such direct ticket.
There is a Mérida to Sevilla service, http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/hjhir040.jsp?&T=08737&G=1&-
F=2000-05-28 but you will have to leve Lisbon at 8:10 the day before and sleep
in Mérida.

Re: getting to the train station in Lisbon from airport
Sorry I was thinking of the bus. Either way, it gets pretty tricky getting from
lisbon to seville. and it is always tricking figuring out which station trains or
buses leave from in Lisbon.

Well the only reason I mentioned the bus was because the sender of the email seemed
to be short of the readies as in the other request she makes seems to be looking for
a place to stay in Sevilla for under 200 EUROS FOR A MONTH. Maybe a bus trip Lisbon
Faro and another one to Sevilla will work out cheaper?

Therein lies the problem. Faro to Sevilla. It looks easy on a map...trust me,
its not. I know it *looks* longer.....but go from Lisbon to Madrid and Madrid
to Sevilla.
P.S. Sta. Apolonia is the international train station in Lisbon. (If you end up at
the Rossio station in the center of town by mistake, hop on a shuttle train).
Apolonia is a short distance outside of downtown....actually making it easier to
reach from the airport.......quite a straight shot into town from the airport.
Its not complicated at all.

It's quite amazing that two major cities in the Iberian peninsular - LISBON and
SEVILLE - are so awkward to travel between. Mind you, 'local knowledge' certainly
becomes necessary when investigating best routes. I am sure that the train from
LISBON to MADRID then from MADRID to SEVILLA is comfortable and probably the
'easiest' method by public transport. Not necessarily the cheapest but certainly most
comfortable.
I see that the poster of the original message has now started a new thread just now
so I guess we should try to assist with the bus option. Maybe it is a cost question.
The message reads: I decided to take a bus from Lisbon to Seville. What is a good
company to go with? I have not found much info on the internet about bus companies
and schedules. Any one out there that has any info on bus companies?

In the other thread above, someone has suggested looking at
www.alsa.es They have a bus from Lisbon to Seville
at 07.00 arrives 15.00
Do you know this company ? You can book and buy your ticket online. It's EUROS 32.

Hallo Sarah,
There is a shuttle bus that takes you from the airport to several downtown locations
including the train station.
