Default Fraternal organisations in central PT

It's just occurred to me that after being here for a little over 5 years, I haven't heard of a single English speaking 'fraternal' organisation such as Oddfellows, Freemasons, Round Table or Rotary etc anywhere in the central zone.

Does anyone know if any such organisations occur in the area and/or do we have any members of such organisations here please?

PM your answers if you prefer

I don't know about Oddfellows, Round Table or Rotary but the internet says that Freemasonry was banned under Salazar but I think there are some Portuguese speaking lodges here now.

However, it's not them I'm referring to.

My point is that the central zone has a large number of English speaking immigrants. In my area, I'm told it's in excess of 20% of the total population & logic would suggest that some of them must previously been members of such fundraising organisations in the countries they came from.

Bearing in mind those combined organisations raise tens of millions for charity every year & that Portugal is in dire need of such funding I wonder if they exist here or not & if not, why hot?

Of course, it could be that they do exist but I just haven't seen or heard of them.

I do find it strange though.

Why not contact one of the Rotary clubs here in the Algarve for help in your search. There is one in Almancil. Estoi, and Silves Details in the Algarve Resident
