Does anyone use the Cofidis credit card https://www.cofidis.pt/cofidis/carta...o-cofidis.html and have any comments pro or con?

That's why I asked... One thing I hate on Portuguese websites is the "Join Now" button before they even tell you anything about the product!

Cofidis isn't a Portuguese company, it's French and majority owned by the Crédit Mutuel..... but I wasn't happy that it's main business concept being "offering customized consumer loans" - I guess a CC is that, but I don't want to open a spam gateway, so a little more research it seems.

I already have cards run through BoI, so no mark-up for euro purchases - but a card tied to my Portuguese account would be handy.

Unfortunately, consumer protection is country-specific and Portugal is not very advanced in that direction

I have had not a good experience with cofidis when I bough something from Ikea (which at the time worked with Cofidis, dont know if they still do). They overcharged my CC, charging one extra instalment. They recognised the mistake but would not pay back. They eventually did after much pressure. Worst still is that when I asked them to cancel my membership they would not do that despite many phone conversations in which they said they would do it "right now". One day I went to Lisbon to their HQ's and said I would not leave until had a letter from them stating that my membership was over. Done

My other horrific experience (but the same style) was with Barclay´s Card. They where applying a fine because they could not charge my account. "The NIB you provided should be wrong" they said. Ok, lets just check if it is, I said." No sir we can not do it over the phone we will send you an sms with a password for you to correct online. SMS never arrived, another fine charged. I Call them back: "oh sorry password will be sent via email, check the NIB in a ATM machine. Password arrived with 8 characters, password size in the ATM was only 6 characters. Another month another fine, another call another excuse. In the end we had to visit their HQ's as well. No re-reimbursements. We were just happy to cutt off any ties with them
