Hi, I was just wondering if anybody knows of any reasonable priced car rental in albufeir/oura area. I posted a while ago around leiria but looking for here now. Looking for something which offers the extra insurance to waive the excess since I have heard too many bad stories plus I don't own a credit card . Thanks

Not having a credit card could be a problem as those such as zitauto who used to provide full cover without one will now it is reported require one.
I have even seen renters refused a car without sufficient credit on their cards to cover the excess.

Hi ok thanks for the reply , I just thought, is there any expats who lend cars out for a price? Since insurance is on the car not the person seems like something which is easy to do but not sure if there is people out there who do it. I think I'm gonna end up using taxis same as Leiria since rental prices are absurd. Just wanted to explore the coast line a bit, nothing too far, for 8 days.

You're into peak holiday time - this is when thay make their money, especially in the Algarve.

When we used to come off-peak it was pointless buying a car as I could rent for peanuts, but the first summer we stayed, the rental on the same car, from the same agency, went up by 600% and I ended up using taxis until I bought a car.

We have used Auto Season for several years and they offer a very good service at competitive prices. The manager is Luis Romeira, phone 00351 281 957 327, but if you want a car in the main season it may be difficult at short notice. We always collected a car at Faro airport and always paid cash, but I assume they would need a card (debit or credit) to cover for any damage during the hire period, but they are worth a call.
