Default Applying for dual nationality - criminal record

I want to apply for Portuguese nationality and have been asked to provide proof of no criminal record in the UK. Does anyone know whether I need a Police Certificate or a Subject Access request? I have contacted ACRO in the UK but they don't know. The Subject Access seems to have less info, takes longer to arrive but is cheaper. The Police Cert is used for working visas for various countries and includes a passport photo and details.

If you don't have a criminal record then go for an ACRO Police Certificate. If you do then you'll likely need both.
