Re: WAPOL recruiting Internationally again!
Have been lurking with interest but thing I am going to bow out.
"the practicalities are important. But right now the most important part of this process is getting through the sift. "
Not sure I agree with this. I think that I should be looking at practicalities, money issues and what it all involves before I decide if this right for me to throw my app in I have always fancied it but then the reality of it and all entails has left me pondering and not being 100% which doesn't feel right.
Going to watch you all with interest but just wanted to say there may be a lot of hype but everyone's situation is different money, family etc etc so I can see it would be amazing for some it may not be for others .
Just rambling but think more for my own benefit to consolidate my own thoughts so no need to comment.
Good luck all!

If you decide it's not for you, then withdraw.
All the best on which ever path you tread.

Forgive me. I know you said no comments on your post. But... what about applying while thinking about the practicalities, it's a long process. An opportunity like this may may not come along again any time soon.

The process is long and as such there's plenty time to research practicalities.
For the record I did not research practicalities.

Re: WAPOL recruiting Internationally again!
Thanks. Suppose I am more like this as a person and thought really long and hard about it as doing the app and getting all the relevant info from where I am now involves telling them of my intentions etc and I don't want to tell them what I am considering it if am not 100% sure of actually going through with it...
Plus its not for me really to pull out of anything later on down the line for that reason, the fact I like to commit fully to something and for taking someone else's space which has been talked about as I know that for those who pull out another could have had it who wants it (like some of you)
Maybe I have over thought it but for me I just felt it was initially exciting but now wasn't right to do the app now and think about it later if you see what I mean. Plus my wife doesn't want to leave the folks which is another story !
Have done lots of research and just my own conclusion.
Wishing you all the best of luck.

Re: WAPOL recruiting Internationally again!
They don't tell you. In fact they give very little away during the whole process. Start by doing the tests on Stepforward (I didn't do any more prep than that), and that work on any weak points.
BUT, do not assume that the entrance exam is solely based on the examples they give.
There are plenty of books about to help you pass entrance evaluations.
Good luck.

Also, integrity is very important.
There are all sorts of little things built into the process, designed to catch you out if you're embellishing the truth on your application. So just be straight-up about everything.

I am new to the website so I apologise if this has already been asked before. I am going to apply to WA police, does anyone have any advice as to how to structure the behavioural statement

Re: WAPOL recruiting Internationally again!
Last year, my first application was unsuccessful as I overemphasised my current specialist role. When I rewrote it as more General Duties based (albeit I haven't done such work for over 14 years) and I got through.

Application is ready to go and it's a lot of paper!!.
Anyone have suggestions on where I can scan the application to PDF? As in library etc
I have a scanner but don't fancy scanning one page at a time would take forever
Cheers,
Jim

Any decent printing shop, or independent computer shop, luckily for me all the printers at work have a scan to PDF option so I'll be doing mine there.
All the best

Re: WAPOL recruiting Internationally again!
I've a neighbour works from home and has a full office next door. Has offered to help me out with scanning which is quite decent of them. Anyone would think he wanted rid of me!! Application and required paperwork was easy enough completed. Apart from the two personal statements! At least half a dozen drafts for each before they were finalised. Let's hope I've included what they're after. Be gutted to fall at this first hurdle.

Click on the Office button in top left hand corner, then the 'Save As' button and one of the options should be PDF, which will convert it.
