Re: shift patterns
Hey mate
Unfortunately they vary from station to station and between different districts but shifts are either 8 or 10 hours.
Generally you work one week of "Days" and one week of "Lates" being either afternoon or nightshift.
Dayshifts are 0700 or 0800 starts depending on 8 or 10 hours and station.
Afternoon shifts can be anywhere from 1400, 1500, 1600 or 1800 starts and finishing after 8 or 10 hours.
Nightshifts can be 2000,2100,2200 or 2300 starts and same, could be 8 or 10 hours.
If you work 8 hour shifts you do 5 days on and 2 off, 10 hours is 4 on and 3 off, it can work out to 8 on and 6 off if you're lucky.
If you work in a country station you can work an extra shift per fortnight paying I think 1.3 of normal time, it's worth about $400+ in your fortnightly pay.
