Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Recruiting
Has anyone done their medical yet? If so how much did it cost? It sounds expensive as they want chest x-rays, blood and urine tests. I assume the cost can be claimed back but not been given any details of how to claim it. Also if you're serving and vetted by your UK force do you need to pay for a "police clearance certificate?"

Evening, £150 for my medical at GPs and £100 for a chest X ray tomorrow! I asked HR and you can claim back when there. And yes a ‘police certificate’ is required even if serving. HR have said they dont do it and for me to try vetting. It appears to be a common thing abroad but not so much here!

Thanks for the reply. Holding off on my medical until I get a workable start date. Google Police Clearance Certificate and there is a link to the official NPCC website for an ACRO certificate. £45 within 10 working days, £80 within 2.

Hmmm...I was under the impression that all paperwork would have to be sent before a formal offer was made. The medical side of it costs a mint . As least it can be claimed back.......hopefully!

That's true, I'm waiting for another Conditional Offer with a workable start date as I can't sign up to 15/01. Once / if I get that I will sort the medical etc. Otherwise I could be left well out of pocket.

I have asked them to clarify what the 15th is, flying out date? Start training date? Week of admin before 3 weeks training? HR said they didnt know and will ask

Any idea where we fly to? Or is that dependent where you fly from. It'll be Glasgow for me certainly.

Hi everyone, I didn't apply however may in the future, what is the cost of living on the island and is your previous experience being recognised for pay purposes or will you start on basic pay?
