I'm in for a meet when the time comes too. PS at Met training school. Been there for a year, previously 3TSG, Haringey, Hackney etc. Qualified pt 1 and 2 to Inspector but what the hell, done it once, I can do it again ! I'm in the pool, but have to wait for the results of an ENT specialist as I've got a mild hearing loss. You think you lot have a nervous few weeks, I could get a date then have it taken away depending on the assessment !!!! Mrs C is going spare at the thought ! Also got kids, two boys, one nearly 4 the other 9 months. Nightmare for 25 hrs on a plane !
In laws are playing the emotional blackmail card aswell. "You're taking away our boys !! My grandchildren, nephews" blah blah. Don't you just love 'em !!

I'm a City officer with 7 years (still a PC currently with CDRP) hubbie has 18 years experience (old sweat!) now a PS (after much effort - bad timing qualifying last month!) with BTP based at West Ham hopefully soon to be DS at Aldgate. We have two kids boy of 13 yrs - can't wait to go surfing in PE lesson! baby girl 2 yrs (couldn't care less!).
Container info: £3000 for contents of a 3 bed semi - (1080 cubic sq feet) You value your own goods and insurance comes at a pricely 30% of the value on top of that. 6 - 8 weeks delivery allow up to 10 days on top of that for customs & excise (to find and remove all that beer you've decided to smuggle ' cos it's soooooooooo expensive out in Oz).
Thought this was quite a good deal - won't be able to share - have too much stuff (even after clearing out!)
Would be great to meet up - especially for the kids, they have to make friends too. We're in Essex but Central London is good.
Here's hoping.

No nails left either!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Water feelings are also good!!!! If we think with our political heads on - it's self explanatory I think!

I'm sure it'll be a question of time that's all. Patience me dears, patience.
What do you all know about taking in equity then. Not that I've got loads but finances are going to be a big issue. Do we get stung or what ?

Not a lot you can do with your 9 month old on the plane, but the four year old I may have an answer, and to all those with childeren older.
We went to OZ two years ago, our youngest was coming up to 2 years and the eldest was 10 years.
What we did was to buy some small presents and wrap them up and give them to the girls during the flight when they got bored. This for us worked really well. For the older one things like stick on tatoos, ect and for the younger one sweets and fav toys. And a must have for the flight if you have babies/toddlers is bulk head seating, more room and takes the stress away from them kicking the seat infront.
Hope this info helps a few people out

Nice, keep em comin....ideas that is....the other problem is not so much the kids themselves, but other passengers looking down their noses at you when you're trying to deal with them if they get upset. In a long flight, I'd be worried I'd lose my cool with them ! (passengers that is).

For those of you with small children and who may have recently been awarded the Child's Trust Fund - the adviser didn't know too much about this except that once it had matured (ie in 18 yrs time) that (if and how) we retrieve this money then it couldn't be touched in relation to tax. Question now is - do we go ahead and open an account and deposit the money? Will have to make further enquiries. It might be worth adding to this annually or placing a lump sum in there ... purely for the child of course!
If I do find out about tax on equity I'll post it to the site.

Didn't get to speak to the advisors, Ollie puked on me...I was the guy in the black leather jacket with baby sick down the side, not nice and so left without partaking in any freebies.
Anyone heard about any further info days for people that either missed it or with info relevant to other courses?
Dan.

I'll introduce myself now....11 years service in Staffordshire...all front line..still a pc...two kids...girl aged 7 and boy aged 3. Hubby runs a pub at the moment but also doing a full time plumbers course at college...so he's well knackered.
Im a bit concerned about unsympathetic passengers too...perhaps all those with kids could get the same plane(s) and support one another. the air hostesses would love that....not!!!!
