Wedding to Boracay in Dec
Hi,
Greetings from the Middle East bored.
I have a wedding to attend in Boracay on Dec 2nd.
I'll be flying from Dubai (home).
Talking to a friend in the office she advised me to visit Palawen and / or Cebu while I'm over.
The problem is I have limited leave (7-10 days) and I don't want to spend a fortune on flights or spend most of my time travelling.
So does anyone have any recommendations? If visiting both Cebu and Palawen is optimistic in this time frame then I'll dump one.
I can fly direct on Emirates to both Cebu and Manila, but then again if I have to fly via Manila to get to Boracay from Cebu then I might just dump Cebu and do a triangle - DXB - Manila - Boracay - Palawen - Maila - Dubai
If visiting just Boracay is a lot less stressful I may just do that too.
Any local knowledge? Recommendations? Do's and don'ts?
FYI - well traveled around most of SE Asia so not looking for advice on dealing with the locals etc.
Cheers

There are direct flights from Cebu to Kalibo, then a "Bus" trip to Caticlan, and a ferry crossing. Some small planes do fly direct to Caticlan.
A group of teachers at my daughter's school, are off to Boracay this half-semester. They paid P1000 each return on a group ticket.
I have not been to Boracay for many years now. Cebu-Boracay used to be a Fokker 50.

On Cebu Pacific website there is a daily flight from Cebu to Caticlan which is only a short (20mins) boatride to Boracay. Cebu is a much less stressful airport to arrive into and depart from. Manila is just a big mess.

OK, so it sounds like.... DXB -> Cebu -> Caticlan then a boat to Boracay on the way out and then reverse this but stop off for a few days in Cebu on the way back.
Thanks for your help.

Just out of interest where will you be staying in Boracay? I can recommend.......
Fairways and Bluewater Resort, Newcoast Boracay
We stayed there 2 years ago for about 3 weeks, it was great.
Enjoy

I haven't booked anywhere yet. The wedding is at the Rotana / Ramada / whatever the big poncey place is called. Can't be doing with paying the $250 it is a night so will most likely look on Airbnb (saw some awesome villas a while back when I looked) or just stay in a hostel or a small hotel. When I'm in SEA I'd rather keep things simple. As long as its clean and has a bar I don't care. A sprinkling of backpacker chicks wouldn't harm either! I'm surrounded by 5* hotels here in Dubai so don't see the point in staying in them when I am away.
Will have a look at your recommendations. Thanks.

She paid P800 a night on a special offer and I think the full rate is about P1,200.

My missus has just come back from Boracay ( we live a couple of hours drive away ) and she stayed at the Jung's House Resort and said it was pretty good, I have never stayed there but have seen it before and it looks quite good. About 1 minutes walk from the beach. Attachment 126066
