Default Sending money from Philippines to UK

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice. My cousin is trying to send me money from the Philippines to UK. He is using BPI but unfortunately they are rejecting the IBAN number that I have given him. He's been unable to send me money until now.

Has anyone sent money from Philippines to UK before without problem?

Any advice on what else we could do to send the money?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Is he sending money in $US or £?. As far as I can tell BPI can transfer from the Philippines in $ to the Uk.

Do you have a $ account in BPI UK?

he is sending money in Philippine peso and the problem is that the bank is apparently rejecting my IBAN number from UK and they kept saying that my IBAN is wrong but I confirmed it with my bank and it is correct.

Is your cousin trying to make the transfer online or via the bank branch itself. If he's doing it online, it's possible he is making errors in completing the required fields, adding spaces or non acceptable dashes etc. If it's via the bank, why does he not ask the bank officer what exactly is wrong with the IBAN code.

Ok now i am confused i was not aware that you could transfer from the Philippines in pesos into a london BPI account that accepts £ or $ . I suspect that the real reason the IBAN is being rejected is because it will not accept a currency conversion. I had that issue when transferring funds from stock broker account as they sent in $ not £, it was rejected.

I suggest you contact the London branch of the receiving bank and ask them if they are rejecting a cross currency transfer
