help and advise needed
HI im looking for some help and guidance.
im have a legal marriage in the Philippines which i have been told is only legal and recognized by the Philippines government. i have been told that legally i could travel to another country and apply to marry again to another person as long as its outside the Philippines. so i could go to Malaysia or China or even UK and get married to someone else.
has anyone got any info regarding this. i have searched for my current marriage in UK records but its not there i called UK registry office to ask and they told me im single in the UK I also call UK embassy in manila and there is also no record of me being married. the only document i have is marriage contract in the NSO. This is why i cant get married to other in the Philippines. if anyone knows anything about this i be interested to know thanks...

Not too sure where you are based but my wife and I got married the Philippines and after our return to Scotland I took a copy of the Philippine marriage cert to the local council who promptly registered in the system. At the time we got married my wife was a British citizen only, she had lived in Scotland for more than 20 years and it was 14 years ago, not sure if any of that makes any difference.

Of course you would show as single in the UK if you got married here.
no country sends details of marriages to any other country.
Stokkevn has the right idea, you need to register the marriage in the UK for it to show.
I'm not sure if you are wanting to try and marry someone else, but even if your marriage is only legal here, one of the questions usually asked in most countries is along the lines " are you now, or have you ever been married before". if you answer NO , and get found out then you have committed an offence in that country.
I'm trying to get my head around what it is you are actually looking for. As I got married in UK, then using your logic, I am single here until I decide to marry someone else. The law here requires you to have a certificate of non marriage from the UK Embassy, in this case, before you get married here!

A a foreigner you can register your marriage in the UK and then apply for legal divorce in the UK so you are single again.

I got married in Philippines, 2011 then had two visit visa applications for my wife turned down because they didn't think she'd return home after 6 mths. We didn't apply spouse visa (big mistake, as it turned out), after marrying because of several reasons, then in 2012 new financial requirements were introduced which I couldn't/still can't meet. Therefore, we're forced to live apart and have to be content (as if), with my visits there once a year now. I've already been to Philippines 8 times, since 2010. Anyway, despite the fact we stated that we had married in Phils when applying for the visit visas, if the UKBA have no record of our having married because we also haven't registered it here, I'm now wondering if we should apply as an engaged couple , or if she should apply a visit visa (at least) to stay with her mother in London and not even mention her marriage to me, a UK citizen? Apologies for asking a question as a reply to the thread, but I'm also not sure what his intention is for asking the question of marrying someone else in a different country?

UK gov has been taken to court over the financial requirements. They have been dragging it out as long as they can as they are bound to loose. It does mean that any application that is made where the financial requirements are not met is just put on hold indefinily.

I don't think it is any different anywhere else. I believe it was about 1987 that we had the automatic right to bring a foreign spouse into the UK removed.

What is the difference. A spouse needs a visa for both countries now. The Philippine government was likely happy with the change as it stopped the catalogue bride abuses.

Not the visa the process and conditions of the visa being reciprocal. Wonder how many foreign spouses in the Philippines if they had to have same tests would fail. NO SS alternative here

Do not get me going on the catalogue of abuses being stopped. The abuses over here against foreign spouses is alive well and lethal. No room for any abuse no matter where it is carried out

I am a Filipino and my partner is British. When we had a civil partnership in British Embassy in the Philippines, one of the requirements was my CENOMAR(Certificate of no marriage). I'm not sure though, but it seems like even if you get married in the Uk you will still be asked for a CENOMAR which will come from the NSO and that I think will reflect that you have been married.
Though we have a different scenario but I hope this idea helps.
