Money saving tip - use currency exchange savings to pay for removals

They may be two seemingly unrelated parts of your move but did you know transferring your currency using an exchange expert like Moneycorp could save you enough money to pay for your international shipping costs?

How? Simple, they offer a better exchange rate than your bank. This means that (for example) if you transfer £100,000 from a house sale into Australian dollars you'll get over £6500 (based on current exchange rates) more using Moneycorp instead of your bank. This will usually easily cover the average costs of shipping and leave you a little change to help you get set up when you arrive.

At Bournes we have been recommending Moneycorp as one of our approved partners for many years to help our customers find more ways to save money on their move. Not only do they offer better rates than your bank they can also provide invaluable advice on the best time to trade to get the most for your money, especially important at times when exchange rates are so up and down! You can open a free account and to find out more about how Moneycorp can save you money too.

This is not always the case though. We have started using our bank for our FX needs as the rates again, we are getting are comparable to the FX houses we used to use and it is easier. Once you get through the the foreign exchange desk at the bank, the rates are similar. The banks counter rate is rarely as good though. This is where the difference lies, banks can offer similar (sometimes better) rates.

Of course you are right Aviator, and apologies as on reflection i should have added this on my original post. As with any kind of 'service' if price is a concern then it's always worth shopping around and comparing the prices and service levels of your options to get the best suited company for you. My example was based on a recent comparison provided by our partner Moneycorp, but things change all the time and can be different across different currency exchange specialists, banks and even different divisions within banks, so its worth doing your homework.
