Default Make sure you're ready for the move.

If you are moving abroad, there are some rules that you should follow, firstly make sure that you have a reliable removals company on hand to help you. It won't be easy, especially if you are taking everything with you.

Make sure you have all boxes labelled precisely so when you arrive at your new home, they can all go in the relevant rooms within the house. These will ease some of the stress that may be inevitable with such an overwhelming move.

Have a check list, with each task done, cross it off so that is one less thing to worry about. There may be several things that need sorting out, such as telling your council you are moving, making sure, if necessary, all tax or pensions are sorted by speaking to the HM revenue customs.

If you have young kids, it could be a good idea to leave them with some family or friends while you get everything in order a few days before the move. This may help ensure that everything is sorted, without any screaming kids running around the home. Obviously not suggesting all kids are riots, but just as a precaution.

If you follow some of these tips then hopefully your move abroad can be a fun one.

Thanks Hannah, good tips!

We've put together a checklist for our customers to download and fill in on the computer or print out that has some of the key tasks to complete and people to notify to keep everything in one place and on track

http://www.bournes-uts.co.uk/news/en...checklist.aspx

It works for local and overseas moves - you might just want to leave a little more time for the tasks if you're moving overseas - these are minimum guides.
