We're now in Auckland
Well guys, (and gals) we finally made it. We landed just before 2.00am this morning.
I'm sat in a hotel in Auckland typing this message and the wife and my two boys are fast asleep upstairs.
So far, so good... everything has gone so smoothly it's untrue... there were no delays on any of the four flights - in fact we arrived slightly earlier than expected.... no damage to (or lost) baggage... customs/immigration cleared - they did question the six month stay we'd noted on the immigration form, and then asked if we had the return flight booked... I said we had (because we have) and then asked him if he wanted to see the ticket.. he said "no.... I'm just calling your bluff!!" (An immigration official with a sense of humour took me aback a little... but hey, he was an utmost pleasure to deal with and I'm not criticsing one bit... in fact... every one of them were great to deal with, although I think the young cute kids with us helped!)... bank account has been confirmed, EFTPOS card collected, mobile phone sorted...
Now the big/serious stuff starts...
The wife is flying to Christchurch tomorrow morning for a job interview... if she gets it, we'll be speaking to immigration to acquire the temporary work permit, progress the EOI, then we're going to acquire a car, drive down to Christchurch and find a house.
If she doesn't get the job, we'll be buying a motorhome and driving to wherever the next interview is!
Fingers crossed everything will continue to go as smoothly.

Hi
Glad to see you got here in one piece and your arrival was without incident.
Just been nosey now! but is your wifes' interview for a 'new' school being built in Christchurch? Feel free to send me a PM if you prefer

That's very kind of you. However the school are sending someone to pick her up and also take her back to the airport.
We're kinda hoping that's a good sign of their interest in employing her! :-)

No it's not a brand new school... so far as I know the school in question is well established. It's actually in a place an hour or so outside of Christchurch - just that she's flying to Christchurch as the nearest airport.
