The letting gent has probably split the fee wuth the ad site, paying the ad site ensures they get their money and pass the rest onto the agent.

Container arrived in port on Wednesday & was delivered Friday! could not believe it was so fast. MAF came out to us all went well. No breakages and nothing conviscated
Good have our stuff around us again, pretty sick of boxes though slowly getting there though.

Our deliveries are done, seem to have only lost 1 wine glass, 1 pyrex dish and a slightly squashed lamp shade - not bad and we still have 9 of the wine glasses so won't bother replacing the busted one.
Car needs new brake discs on the rear to pass compliance so should get that back soon too.
Sympathy with the boxes syndrome.....

Did MAF look at everything or just outdoor things?
Did the removals people not unpack everything for you? We had Anglo Pacific here this week and they said Allied Movers will deliver when shipment arrives in Tauranga and will empty all boxes and dispose of them as it is apparently costly for us to dispose of waste materials in NZ.

They just marked off ten boxes for inspection. One was a bike, xmas decorations, garden tool, hiking boots and trampoline etc. Was not interested in our wicker at all which was giving me nightmares before we left.
All they did this end was re assemble beds and unwrapped the big item furniture. All the other boxes were left to us. TBH not sure i could have coped with every box being unpacked all at once We need to contact them in a week to come and take away boxes, if we ever finish!! Will hang on to a few though as we will move again in time.

Re: Well here we are then!
Our last move resulted in us not even being able to identify what was missing even now! For some reason they repacked every box back at the depot before putting in the container and renumbering every box, old photos and keepsakes were split up
Fingers crossed for next week, tbh honest I have always had the boxes put in the garage and I unpack a leisure but will make them unpack the chinea and stero etc this time to save my back.

Re: Well here we are then!
Finally have got around to doing an update
We arrived on August 11th and headed for a well earned holiday in Nelson with the In laws, which was fantastic Sorted a NZ driving licence, activated bank account, bought a car & joined local library, all rather painless. Enjoyed being back in Nelson wished we could have stayed but no go on the job front for hubster.
So took ferry over to Welly on 2nd September to begin our new life. Not a smooth crossing so was feeling quite queasy at times but I am bit of a wimp with motion sickness though.Still cant believe it takes 3 HOURS to cross I had visions of it being similar to going to the Isle of white
We currently are staying in our holiday rental up on the Kapiti coast (furnished) which we had booked from the UK via bookabach, has turned out to be fine, well equipped and nice enough for when you first arrive with nothing to your name. Only a few steps and we are at the beach which coming from a city is quite a novelty.
After doing lots of trips out and about and generally having a good old poke around the area we have managed to finalise where we would like to settle. We have now found a school DD is happy with and we like and as of today we have managed to secure a rental in that area. With a bit of luck we maybe able to enrol the girls into school by next week. So bit by bit it is all starting to come together.
Still cant believe it when I drive along the coast that this is home & I live her now!
Have a good feeling about settling here and I hope it turns out to be the life we hoped to achieve by moving here, yeah sure stuff is expensive but I honestly feel the best stuff in life is free anyway.
As for missing the UK, way to early to say and skype goes a long way to help bridge the gap.
