Default Singapore and Malaysia

Looking at setting up office in Singapore and house in Malaysia.

Questions:

Cars in terms of restrictions for travel between Singapore and Malaysia. Should we account for having cars from both? Yes are well aware of car costs and permits.

Schools in terms of holistic rather than just academic.

Areas?

Singapore we are looking for 4 bed condo with parking for 2 cars with normal pool and gym amenities.

Malaysia looking for large plot of land hopefully in elevated semi rural area.
Looking to build around 1800 sqm house so need around 3 acres.
Keen to start Google these areas

What are land costs per sqm?

Building costs per sqm?
Oz was around $3k per sqm. NZ appears around $10k per sqm so wide variations so keen to see what malaysia will be.

Any recommendations in terms of builders? Architects?

Have house in KL with elderly parents so looking for closer proximity to Singapore (health reasons, cancer treatment) but taking into account they are adamant about remaining in Malaysia.

In terms of my office I will be looking at getting staff in these areas:
Finance & legal
People & capability
Marketing
Customer experience
Public relations
ICT
Engineering & facilities
Operations
Supply mngt
Project office
Any agent recommendations? Ie specialists in each area?
Will this be difficult to secure staff in Malaysia versus Singapore? Assume same remuneration.

Sorry for so many questions

Regarding cars and travel, there are a load of existing topics on this subject in here.

I would suggest reading geedee's excellent topic here:

It's a long thread but enlightening.

Regarding working and living(?) in Singapore, you would be best re-posting in the Singapore country forum. We have a few active members who are helpful.

Sorry, this may not be relevant but I'll say it anyway. Singapore is very expensive for medical costs unless your folks (I assume it is for them?) are Singaporean and getting discounted meds. I speak from experience as the late Mr BB had extensive and long cancer treatment in Penang, and an operation in Singapore (mega-bucks). If this move is cancer-driven, you may wish to take a look at what Penang has to offer. Just another option. Feel free to PM me if you wish.

Thanks baked bean

Sister lives in Singapore
And treatment (specialist) has been to date through singapore. Father in law is Singaporean but long term Malaysian resident.

Other reason is office better located near Singapore.

I can't help with many of your questions but I was speaking to a developer recently who told me that land prices have dropped a lot. Even though asking MYR 120-150 per square FOOT on line, apparently sellers have dropped as low as MYR 80 psf recently.

That's interesting

Is something happening to drive demand down? Or were original prices set to high for market?

No idea really, not being an estate agent

Probably a mix of both.... they've gone way over the top on condos and there's nobody to live in them, and I think most people simply can't afford to buy landed property here.... or even if they could will know far better places (abroad) to spend the money being asked.

What does the term "landed property" mean?
My wife is more concerned about the threat of kidnapping in Malaysia? Is this also a reason for movement of people?
Preference would be to buy land in Singapore but other than people saying its very expensive I am still awaiting figures to reflect on.
Compared with say $150 per square foot what would be rural land in Singapore?

"Landed Property" just means a property on a bit of land, so it's a House or Bungalow with a garden or whatever.

Might be worth browsing the URA site. Singapore has a lot of great information about properties, land, etc online. Oh how I wish Malaysia would do the same. Try this link and browse around:
https://www.ura.gov.sg/uol/land-sale...istorical-data

I do know that if you are buying as a Foreigner, you will have to get permission to buy first.

Thank you Baked Bean, that's a great deal of information downloaded now.
Wife is Singaporean so will be buying through her as a "local". MIL is Malaysian but in any case its not so hard from what I have now heard to acquire Malaysian land.

You have some variable options then. That's good.
