Hi Sue ... thanks ... it's been about that now, but we'll give them a few days grace! LOL.

But the more we wait, the more we gain confidence that per haps we can go just on a PR anyway! At least we're gonna be able to choose where we go, what hospitals etc ...
We've been sorting out what we need for a PR application, so it's kinda which ever gets sorted first!

I am new to this site and also using forums so please bear with me if I break any etiquette!

Your situations are very similar to ours. My wife and I have decided to emigrate to Oz and she is a nurse and is the one that gets all the points - although I have paper qualifications its for nothing on the SOL.

We too are confused by what is the best route in, for PR. An agent has told us state territory NOminated Migration Visa is best - but this applies to Vic, Tas and SA. We favour Adelaide due to the climate being less wet than NSW and not as hot as say, Brisbane. One agent has also told us that SA is easier to get into than NSW or QLD. Does this ring true?

My wife is a practice nurse in a busy GP surgery and ideally would like to do the same in Oz - specialising in Diabetes - anyone know whether such jobs exist? Haven't had much luck on the web.
Hi RG,
Yep, quite similar process to us ...
My wife is also a practice nurse, and although I have a job & qualifcations listed on the SOL, we aren't gonna include me in the application, as we have enough points already, and it saves getting my qualifications verified etc (and saves money!). I have to get over the "me-hunter-gather-must-provide-for-family" syndrome and just go along for the ride! It's something that I find difficult, it seems you are too??

We're doing a two-pronged approach:
1. Registered with agencies for the Long Term Business Visa (LTBV) approach &
2. Permanent Residency (PR) Visa

We started them both at the same time, and yes it will cost a little more, but both have their benefits ... oh and drawbacks too!

As for an agent's recommendation ... sorry can't help there, and I don't know of any differences between the states ... I'm afraid I'm a newbie too!
One thing we have been told by seveal agencies, is that Practice Nurse jobs aren't advertised through agencies, as the surgeries can't afford the fees (for a LTBV Application), but they're snapped up by local applicants anyway ... but, getting a PR application sorted, getting overthere, then puts you on a more level playing field (in theory) for these jobs ...

If you want to, feel free to PM me, and I'll explain the process we're doing (HEALTH WARNING - May Not Be The Best!!!!) a little more ...

Thanks Ecando

Have sent you an Email.

We are currently on 115 points but it has been suggested that when we sell our house shortly before we go we can put money into an Aussie bond and that will get us 120. Does anyone know if that is fairly common practice?

This website lists lots of jobs in SA give it a try, I've it copied from a post from Grayling on page 1 of this thread.
