Nurse going to NSW...help!
My wife is a registered nurse with 3 years experience as a district/community nurse here in the UK. Before the end of the year she along with me (hubby) and our daughter would like to move to Sydney and nurse there. Her sister is a nurse in Sydney and has recently become a resident.
She is currently completing her AHPRA form and will probably look to complete a sponsor visa.
Without an agent what is the most practical and effective way of going about this as so much information can be found, it can be confusing.
Can someone please provide a clear step-by-step guide with a rough timeline of what she should be doing and when, so we can progress with a clear idea of how to get it right.
Also does any one have any thoughts on Expos? are they of any use or should they be avoided.

Why tie yourself to an employer when you don't have to and why go for a temporary visa when you can get PR straight away?

Re: Nurse going to NSW...help!
Hi there
If you are planning on going on a sponsorship visa, then the hospital or company will help you with applications and give you clearer timelines on how long things take, but as previous poster states PR visa may be a better option, you are not restricted with a PR visa like a sponsorship where you have to commit to that job for 3-4 years and if you don't like it then you maybe stuck. If going for skilled PR visa first thing you need to do is IELTS (English test) then get your skills assessed by the Australian nursing and midwifery council(ANMAC), then apply for visa and final whilst waiting for visa I would apply to APHRA. If you are wanting a time scale for that I would say 8-16months approx.
Hope that helps.
P.s
You only need IELTS for PR visa(ANMAC want it for skills assessment), if sponsorship visa APHRA don't require IELTS only proof that secondary education was taught in English.
