Default Midwife Advice

Hi,

My wife is currently retraining to be a midwife, however she will be 40 years of age by the time she completes her degree. Looks like 190 state sponsorship will be the only Visa available to us.

Does that mean she needs 3 years work experience before applying for state sponsorship. Or would employer nomination be an option, could she try and get sponsorship with say 1 years experience?

Thanks, J

There are different types of visa's available. There is a temporary shortage skills visa that has just bee brought out. I am a midwife, qualified for 3.5 years but I am only 32 so get more points for my visa. However, If your partner sat the IELTS she can gain more points that way by getting an 8.0 in all areas. x

Yes it would. The maximum age for PR is 49.

The TSS visa is a temporary visa only with no avenue to permanence. It is only meant to be a stop.gap for shortages of skilled people temporarily.

Yes, I know. That's why it is called a temporary skill shortage visa.

Yes, but the OP is asking about permanent visas. A lot of people are under the assumption that the TSS can/will lead to permanence.

If your wife gets permanent residence with you as a dependent then yes you would get PR as well.
