Big dreams but no idea!
Hi everyone,
New to the scene but just wondered if anyone can help.
I am currently a BSc (Hons) adult nursing student nurse in the UK and hoping to one day move to Nevada/California to be a nurse over there.
However I have 2 years left of my degree so I was wondering whilst I wait to qualify is there any pointers I can work towards as I know they like for you to have experience in other fields such as mental health and maternity etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Unless you get clinical and theory in all areas, Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult you will not meet US state requirements. Also be aware California are very strict especially foreign trained

Are you married to a U.S. citizen or do you have another 'easy' route to a visa (as nursing isn't an occupation that is likely to get you in to the U.S.), such as a spouse with specialist skills?
Good luck with it.

Hey guys
Thanks for replying!
My degree has EU Directives as, as an adult nurse you can work anywhere in Europe because of these and it includes peads, mental health and obs but I wonder if it will be enough to work in the States. I have read that actual experience can help an application too so I just don't know if I will need to do anything else.
My boyfriend is a US citizen so potentially if we were to marry this could help, I assume. I wasn't completely sure as to whether the US allowed you to marry in for citizenship. I guess I have a lot to learn in the next two years!
Thanks again guys

experience will not help with application as states will only look at transcripts. Also we have seen many UK nurses struggle to meet state requirements as not all Adult training obtain enough hours in Obstetrics and sometimes Paeds come into play.
You are not marrying to obtain US citizenship but marrying because you love him

I have no intention of being in the US other than to be with him so yeah, it would be for love and not for citizenship! If worst comes to the worse he can come to the UK or both move somewhere else.. However America is a beautiful country therefore that would be our first choice
