applying to APHRA after april 1st?
Have I read this wrong or if I apply to AHPRA before 1st april I would have to pay fees again in July for the year as that's when it is renewed?
all applicants who apply after 1st april are ok until end of June 2015?
should I hang on posting my application for a couple of weeks?

As far as I'm aware (but you should check with AHPRA), the fees relating to your application are a "one off" and only your actual annual registration fee is renewable.
My advice would be to get your application in, because if they come back for more evidence, (which is happening a lot these days), it's unlikely that your registration will be through before July 1st anyway.
Currently, AHPRA assessments for registration are going through a lot of changes, and my understanding is that it's only going to get more difficult for overseas nurses to obtain registration. So if you have to spend an extra hundred quid to get it, I'd say thats a good investment.
Make sure you send your application to Darwin office too.

No. Darwin is fastest at processing at the moment. Sydney is the slowest. Once they approve your registration, you will get a "Letter of Eligibility" from AHPRA. When you arrive in Oz you take that to your LOCAL APHRA office to get your registration signed. It doesn't matter where you go because AHPRA is a National body, not a state one.
