Agency work in NT - Australia
Hi everyone,
I'm a UK qualified and trained RMN. I am currently living and working in Christchurch NZ and have registration with the NZNC. As far as I am aware registration with the NZNC means under the trans-Tasman agreement I can register to work as a nurse in Australia.
I'd like to take on a couple of temporary contracts in places like Alice Springs to save up some money. I have pretty extensive psych and AOD experience which I think would be handy. I have a couple of questions.
1. How much time would it take for me to get an Australian work Visa if I was otherwise eligible to work as a nurse and apply for employment. I have NZ residency but that doesn't mean anything for Australia.
2. All the agencies talk about 'fantastic rates of pay' but don't actually tell you what you'd earn. Does anyone know the hourly rate or average pay for an agency nurse?
