Take it easy old chap! You are posting on my thread that I started so it really doesn't take much to "stalk your posts". Don't like it when your comments come back to haunt you do you Colin ? Maybe it will make you think twice about posting them.
As my dear old grand father used to say, "If you can't hold the racquet, you shouldn't be on the court".

Cheaper in NZ in general

Moet $44.99
Piper $44.99
Lanson $39.99
Mumm $39.99
Veuve $59.99
etc.

There are some cheaper, non-famous brands from about $25

Champagne consumption in 6 years in NZ = 0 bottles

Too busy spending all my money on cucumbers.

Any I sup this stuff now by the crate, i wash the car in it and I soak my smalls in it.

Forget the champagne, can we address the more important issues please. How much is the beer these days?

Usually the specials are $20 for a 12 pack I think, standard lager stuff like Heineken, Asahi, local and Australian lagers etc.

I've not been too well over Xmas what with a dose of man flu so I've been keeping myself away from our little boy as much as I can. This means I've spent a lot of time up on my computer building my new website and anything else to keep me busy.

Anyway, the missus did a medium shop at Aldi last week and left the receipt on the side so I decided to kill some more time I would do a comparison with Countdown, it's kinda fitting as Wanted Down Under has just started again and their comparisons are usually way off.

I've been in two minds whether to post the results as I know it could cause a melt down.

If enough people want to see the results I'll post them with a copy of the receipt.

Yep I think you should post it. Of course Pak n Save would be a better comparison with Aldi but I know you can’t look up their prices online.

Our cucumber plants have gone crazy this year (summer got hot v early) and we’ve had 3 cucumbers from the garden this week...more waiting to be picked but can’t really eat them quickly enough at the moment.

Well it won't tell anyone anything new, the reasons for the differences are still the same and will be hotly disputed as to their accuracy and rationale.

Unfortunately (or fortunately as you wish), NZ is still a population of only 5M, spread out over an area the size of the UK, and on the end of a very long supply route for anything imported. Economies of scale don't exist.

No surprises Aldi prices will differ from New World...but I for one still know where I would rather be.

I agree with everything you said! Also,if we really have to compare it should be Aldi -Pac n save and Waitrose -New World! We live in London at the moment and to get the best mix of deals, quality, price we have to shop around. For us is Lidl,Sainsburys,Waitrose.
