Default Visa advice

Hi

Looking for some advice

I am looking at coming over on a visitor visa with my daughter. Whilst my over half comes over on a working holiday visa.

I understand that In some cases you can have a visitor visa extended to 9 months. Does anyone know what you have to meet for this to be possible

Thank you

As far as I am aware its a case by case decision.
You can apply for another 3 months’ stay and extend your stay to 12 months in a 24-month period, if:

you need more time to complete your tourist itinerary
you can’t leave New Zealand for reasons beyond your control
you’ve applied for residence for the first time.

I've just had a very similar conversation about it not being wise to mix visa types as a family. It could well cause concerns with NZ immigration that your intent is not to holiday but to try to remain.

You would have to show incredibly good reasons why you would want that visitor visa extended.
