She was driven in a crate in a lorry across Europe from Romania so hates being confined whilst travelling and it took her about a year to stop being travel sick. Even now she only reluctantly goes in the boot of my car. Poor pooch. Cheers.
Aw bless her. Can understand why you feel anxious. It may also be worth you knowing that you are also allowed to visit your dog daily whilst they are in quarantine. This may be good for you but I understand some people advise against it as it can cause some upset if you or your dog would get distressed by the goodbyes each day.
My dog is quite anxious too but I think the constant trips to the vet have actually helped as now she wags her tail when we go so maybe that reinforcement that nothing terrible will happen has lessened her anxiety.
Good luck and I am happy to let you know how our experiences go when we pick her up from quarantine.

Just realized that we have made a mistake regarding the dogs didn't realise we needed Rabies injections and a 6 month gap before they can travel to NZ. Nothing is simple we will just have to work through it...

The process of emigrating is definitely character building isn't it?!Hope all works out in the end for you, you probably already know this, but some shippers also provide boarding for pets for people in a similar situation to you if you need to fly out before?x

Character building...you are absolutely right seems to be a new problem every day. don't want to board the dogs for 3 months though...

make sure you get the rabies jabs done now as the dogs cant enter nz for 6 months after. Not decided on the carrier yet but will employ one of the specialist firms to do it.

We have gone through golden arrow, and they have booked with qantas. We arrived last Friday and our dog is staying with friends until she flys out on the 24th. Can't wait to pick her up on the 6th from quarantine!!
I think being busy helps with my pining!
I see you're going to new plymouth, us too: we will have to meet up for walkies!

Did you end up renting in vogeltown? We rented a house in Norman St last time we were there loved it, the children both went to Vogeltown infants and juniors lovely school and excellent staff still speak to some of them now! And just round the corner from Pukekura park/Brookland Zoo which is excellent when it has the Festival of Lights and Christmas concert is a must x
