Actually, looking at www.nzherald.co.nz yesterday there did seem to be an awful lot of crime stories. However, it is Wed there now and the news seems to as 'normal'.

(Just waffling on ... interesting article on Picton today - I always wondered why such an important town (a ferry port) had such a low population!)
