Sometimes it feels as if we live in a trailer park, the noise really does carry when people are outside with music blaring and you can hear every word of their conversation, shouting and banging and clattering around, scraping of chairs, bottles being biffed in the recycling etc.
During the day isn't much better, there's always screaming kids having a tanty, yappy dogs barking, swearing and yelling coming from one or another of our neighbour houses and in competition with revving of engines, the lawn mowing, jet washers, chain saws and strimmers it is enough to drive you mental some days.

I think the same - people in general are incredibly inconsiderate, selfish and wrapped up in their own world most of the time. Even little things like checking behind you when walking through a door to see if you need to hold it open for someone. Many a time doors get dropped in my face - cheers for that you wanker. Yesterday in New World a young girl had a portable speaker and was blaring music out of it. Really crap hip hop stuff. In the middle of New World. I thought I had better laugh at the audacity rather than beat her over the head with her own speaker and shitty music

Maybe its noisy in the malls because people talk to each other? I know I often talk to the shopkeepers and people at the next table at a cafe etc.

I hate that. Our GP surgery has the radio on all the time. My GP is great but always running late so I'm forced to listen to it for ages. MY OH sits outside if it's raining as it drives him nuts too.

My dentists is the same but she does usually does ask if it's okay and what type of music you like. My other bug bear is people that have radios on in the office, does my friggin head in too - I don't know whay they can't get some flippin' headphones so we don't all have to hear it.

Is it just me or is it strange how people appear to have lost their senses and leave their car parked across your driveway?
I thought people were joking until it happened to me. I mean it was right across the driveway on the pavement across the grille of my car.
Well what could I do it was 11am on a Friday night. Spoke to up to 3 on left and 4 on right but no one new who driver was.
I let all four tyres down
Shaving foam across front and rear windscreens (to semi hide the broken eggs)
Toothpaste and sardines under the door handles
turd up the exhaust (thanks to the dog for that)
Base bat ready for some R&R
And turns out to be an old lady

Re: Other peoples noise and anti-social behaviour.
I wish I had thought of some of your antics when I had a great big bloody truck parked across my drive a few weeks back - the imbecile driver and his crew were working at a house nearby and seemed most inconvenienced at the fact that I needed to get out of my own driveway and get to work.

Re: Other peoples noise and anti-social behaviour.
Reading a post by someone with thoughtless neighbours made me think to update on my old long running saga here.
This is a closed thread but r I asked myself very nicely to reopen it. It seemed better to end the story here rather than open a new thread just to end this story...if you see what I mean.
The neighbours from many kinds & years of hell have gone. In fact they left a while ago as the property was finally sold to a local developer. Yes, we have the sound of a digger & dumpster during daylight hours but really after what we went through, that by comparison simply tinkles sweetly . Eventually the area will have 5 houses upon it where once there was one large rundown extended family homestead . That's all fine to us.
At the moment we are just enjoying being able to live in our house in peace. It is surprising just how much more relaxed and better it makes a person feel. One maybe doesn't realise just how much the living on tenderhooks and under siege can become an almost normal part of life until those shackles are gone. It is just so wonderful to be able to hear yourself think. To have a Christmas. To invite friends round or have people stay over.
So far we've had the house repainted and are updating our section best we can. We sit on a third of an acre with a good view that cannot be built out. We've plans to possibly turn our garage/sleepout area into a holiday rental / airbnb. Our place already had permission to operate as a b&b with ample parking . It was just with the neighbours we had it was not possible. Now it is & this being a place people come to holiday, we think it will work out fine. It will all add to the worth & appeal of our home which over the bombardment years had become quite shabby and worn, reflective of us.
For myself I am still not sure I want to end my days here as there is a world out there waiting for me but the plan is to hopefully have the husband at least semi-retire so we can calmly consider the next phase in our lives. At least we now feel we could sell if we wish . Before we felt we couldn't sell a living hell to someone els, not that we would have got a fair price as it was well known the place was next door to a certain type of people.
Himself is doing good too. Those years really took their toll on him and I think he will likely remain on anti-depressants now for the decades to come. Having written that , the hermit crab that he became has been on the move. He felt able to join Civil Defence . He feels able to have a pint locally if he wants . We've made a few new pals thanks to the new developments and the newcomers that brings.
So there it is. All's well that ends well.
The End.
