The NZ BritExpat cyber DIAMOND JUBILEE STREET PARTY needs YOU !
I'm usually up for a get-together & party. Any old excuse will do & what better reason than the Queens Diamond Jubilee .
A great way for us to have a bit of a good old-fashioned knees up altogether.
It doesn't matter where you're coming from or going to. If you're for the Queen & Royalty or not. All you need to have is your party spirit & a well natured smile.
We'll need to set up trestles. Dress for the occasion ( your avatars ) . We'll need plates of food & drink. If everyone says what they'll bring , we won't end up with 50 salads and an old crust of bread.
Suggestions for good street party music , games, jokes, decorations. Perhaps share memories, photos, anecdotes of other jubilees and similar celebrations
Party poopers to be cajoled out of being sour pusses , embraced with the jocular , given a cup of tea & a flag to wave.
Be great to see a fair few of us here.

I don't really remember any street celebrations in Sheffield, for any royal occasions (or any other for that matter).
Still I am happy to bring some wine!

Changed my mind, it's a victoria sandwich instead. I have already purchased my tacky plastic hat and bunting

I shall make some profiteroles & bring them. I think the occasion calls for some Veuve Cliquot bubbles, even if I am a republican . Any excuse for a party & a good old-fashioned knees-up
Any of us of a certain age still got their Silver Jubilee Glass that all British schoolchildren were given back in 1977. I have

Can't have you ending in Cat's Pee Alley, where miseries gather to kick dustbins and slouch . So just mutter into your beer. You can help with the chairs.
oh and get a paper crown or summat on your avatar.

I went to the last one, in '77 and was frozen out 'cos I played 'God save the Queen', by the Sex Pistols, on the street music centre, so I went off to my bedroom, (like a good boy) and played it at setting 11 and opened all my windows
Our street party went on for hours, way into the wee small hours, everyone enjoyed themselves and I was even allowed in the end to play my Stranglers
Mind you it was a hot summer!

Make 200. Mr and him can eat 20 at least.
You won't be wanting that once you sample Catchafire's wine. It's beautiful.
AHA ! Post a photo.

Take the tacky plastic hat back & make a home made one. It sounds like it's melting already.
