I thought water's 'true' colour was transparent - it was only blue because it was reflecting the sky above.
When I turn my tap - it doesn't run blue.
Brown, yellow or green water is simply a result of pollutants/mud/sand cloudying the water from its origianl blue?

thats not actually correct....when we run a bath the water in it is blue,just like Tekapo's, quite obviously blue.Our water comes off the second gully on the face of the remarkables.No grit in that either, we drink it, its great....err,thats before we have a bath in it

Also depends on how old you are. As we age, eye sees colours as gradually less blue, then more red, then more brown.

took a while to download (not on broadband) but defineitely worth the wait.
I agree totally with this site being Oz orientated, seems a trendy place to be at the mo-but NZ is definitely for us, we should be in Ch'ch end July beginning Aug.

Nice photos - brings back memories, from glacier walking, to bungee off the K Bridge to skiing at the Remarkables, including a very VERY :scared: scary trip up one day with no visibility and a loose snow chain! :scared:
