Job offer Wellington but wife concerned

Re: Job offer Wellington but wife concerned
I'm an infrequent visitor here these days, but it's been a bit of a gloomy, lazy late Autumn Saturday afternoon here so I'm busy wasting time and idly surfing the net. Like I haven't actually got anything better to do! Anyway I've just read this thread pretty much in it's entirety and, well, wowzers, it's reminded me why I stopped visiting here regularly. We love life in NZ and seriously don't recognise the NZ that some posters are talking about. Sure, it's real life, we have days of horrendous weather, out of season fruits & veges are usually considerably more expensive and there's definitely weeks when our outgoings exceed our earnings - it certainly isn't all roses. But we came over 8 years ago now with 2 teenagers who thrived in the NZ educational system and I'm incredibly proud of their achievements since leaving school. We're all citizens now, and for now at least have no plans at all to leave this beautiful country. So I'm another happy clapper & I make absolutely no apology for it. For sure it's not right for everyone- but where is? I can't really comment on Welly though, I visited heaps when my son was studying at Vic uni and loved the city but to be fair have never lived there. Anyway just thought I'd add my 2 pennorth worth in the interests of adding a bit more balance from one of the infrequently contributing ex pats who's happy and settled here.

Sometimes wish posters could have little symbols next to their names so new prospective immigrants could save time and not have to trawl back through posters history to establish.....

I'll join you in the happy ? club too! Been here 6 years, work is going well for both of us and kids are doing well. Just went back to the UK at Christmas time and were very happy to come home again with no intentions of going back to the UK.

I gotta say its very refreshing hearing of people happy with their decision to up sticks to the other side of the world... even considering how much you have to fork out at the supermarket each week 😉

Worth it though, I can park right outside even on Christmas Eve, there's very rarely a queue (more than 1 person in front is unusual) and they pack my free bags for me
