JOB OFFER :)
Hello All,
I have been offered a job in Auckland with an accredited employer.
The Visa would be a Work to Residency (Accredited Employer).
Salary etc has been agreed, i just need to accept it.
Just wanted the help of this forum to advise me on what i should do regarding my Medical on my Visa application.
I have a high BMI (34) and my waist line is above the maximum on the panel docs instructions. In previous blood tests i have had high collestoral count (both good and bad collestarol). Apart from them i have no health issues, i cycle every night, play 5 aside footbal once a week and have rugby training once a week with matches once a week during the season. (I am aware my application will definately be reffered to the medical assesor)
The only diagnosed problem i have is Acid reflux which is controlled via diet and occasionally omeprazole when it flares up.
My question is should i:
1) Get the medical over and done with and await the medical assesors findings/extra tests/requirements?
2) advise the panel doctor that my bmi and waist etc are high and ask for extra tests prior to the medical assesor advising on the extra tests?
As i have a job offer i am worried that any delays by the medcial assesor could effect my job offer.
I have went to my doctor to register my BMI and working hard to lose weight incase that the medical assesor asks for evidence that im working to reduce my BMI.
Worried and Excited!

Re: JOB OFFER :)
Hi
Can I ask what is the waistline measurement guidelines? Myself and my other half are in the same boat overweight but healthy (although we are both losing weight at the moment) someone in here the other day said themselves and there partner had what was considered a high BMI and they got through.

Re: JOB OFFER :)
Hi inkedneonnurse,
I didnt believe the waistline to be a problem as i wear 38" trousers and shorts. but my waist measurement is 45. This is because waiste measurements are taken above the belly button.
I believe males need to be under 104CM and females under 88cm.
Thought the job offer was the hard part from the UK but it seems the medical will be the make or break of this move to New Zealand.

there is a relatively high probability that costs and/or treatment will be required in order for an individual to potentially fail health requirement, which would represent well over a 50% chance of treatment, but below 100% (certainty).
There are immigration solicitors that specialise in medical refusals but obviously they cost money and time (a consultants review etc) in my humble opinion get your medical done as soon as possible in order to offset any problems that might arise

Re: JOB OFFER :)
the fact you have a job offer I would say you should show you are committed by getting everything sorted as quickly as possible. The BMI is a guideline and not a no visa. Don't bother with further tests as you may well not need them. The approved medical assessor has a form to fill in and thats their job done.
If it gets referred it gets referred, nothing you can do about that and each referral is on a case to case basis.
I personally would get it done and sorted just to stop the worrying and sort out if anything comes of it.
