The only stockist of Ikea furniture I know of is in Newmarket, Auckland but their stock is very limited. There was also a trader on Trade Me that imports ikea furniture from Aussie but not sure if he is still doing this. He is based in St Johns in Auckland and will import anything specific you want. I've bought desks from him in the past.

Otherwise there may be others on here who can add to this.

Hope that helps.

Come over to Australia and ship it back, it will probably be cheaper.

I can't believe Queensland is about to get its second store and NZ is still waiting for its first. I thought it was supposed to be a free market over there, but vested interests are very good at keeping out the competition.

Ikea wanted to open a store in Auckland, I believe it was some location like Sylvia Park in Auckland, in any case the powers that be rejected it because it would have caused too much traffic.

That's what they want you to believe, but all things concerned - it's utter rubbish

IKEA with their pricing, coming to New Zealand would wipe out the competition. Smiths City in particular would be the first to complain about them taking all their customers.

When the powers that be clamp down on online and overseas purchases because it's wiping out the competition (errr yeah and even with your customs and gst charges - the cost is still cheaper than the chained store is charging), there's no chance that IKEA would ever be allowed to operate in this country.

We brought back a TV unit from Brisbane in its box as it was under the weight limit for luggage. Customs weren't fussed in the slightest, their response was....just another Ikea purchase. They were used to it.

We also sold my son's IKEA bed for more than we paid for it on trade me once he'd grown out of it, so consider anything you bring over as an investment!
