Hamilton is a great choice - best of luck! If we ever decide to return, the Waikato region is one of those near the top of our list. Just don't ever move to Auckland.

Hey, 17 month Hamilton resident here formerly from sunny Yorkshire. Hamilton is great with lots of modern amenities and housing. It has it detractors but they mostly own road maps which stop at the Bombay Hills....
Flagstaff and Rototuna is where I'm at and work in the CBD. I'm SO glad we didn't decide to live near ( on in ) AKL - especially considering we can't afford to lol.
Lots of modern shopping, eating etc here in the Tron and the cinemas are awesome. Being the civic centre of the Waikato we get a lot of decent sized events here too - although something like a Rod Stewart concert means we have to brave Auckland for a few hours.
