yesterday had to walk the dog with a coat on, although the sun was out the wind was cruel and cold. First night with the gas fire on, but that was mainly to dry the dog off from his shower. Haven't turned the heaters on in the bed rooms yet or had the blankets on.

Heat Pump 1 - Concrete Pills 0
Must have been a duff batch of Concrete Pills as they have proven to be quite ineffective, so had to resort to alternate intervention with a liberal application of Panasonic warmed air today.

Brrrrrr
We moved from the uk in Jan this year and the no central heating has been quite a shock to the system!
Currently bundled up on the couch with a hot water bottle, slightly concerned its but even winter yet!

I think it comes as a shock to people ChristchurchFi, especially more so if you are in a rented place or not yet had time to customise your place to the level of comfort you are used to. Unless you strike it lucky with a new build, or can afford to add double glazing and proper heating systems, it's a pretty constant battle.

Unprecedented in our 12 years of being here but we've still not felt the need to light our log burner. Yes. We do have the necessary logs.

Finally got our heatpumps fixed this week, so have had them on a couple of times to test them out. Not really needed them yet though

Heatpump went on today for the first time. The wife succumbed to the 7 degrees temp. this morning and evening. I'm still sat in shorts n t shirt :-)

heat pump on this morning in Auckland and tonight - chilly. Just back in from a walk in my ski trousers too... And to think this would have been a balmy evening back in Belfast...

Moved into my new house this morning,
I had the woodburner lit before the wife had put her handbag down

FWIW my husband and I are parked in front of the 'living flame' gas fire all toasty warm. The heatpump is warming the upstairs.

Well that deteriorated very quickly, didn't it? No more skirting around the matter, we have heat pumpat full bore, candles and flannelette jamas tonight.
So that's one of our five days of winter down, only four more to go.

Having spent all her life on the north island, Mrs justcol was shocked when it started to snow as we drove the last few miles to our new place

My wife is a weather jinx, our first year in Golden Bay it snowed (unheard of)! We passed through Woomera (Oz) and it started raining (I reckon I could have hired her out as a rainmaker). This summer in Kerikeri has been the wettest in 20+ years (over 800mm since Xmas)......
