The flies have been replacing all the fly poo I cleaned from the lampshades, ceiling and spotlights recently.

They're in the house all day and night to get it done. They're very hardworking and won't stop until it's all done.

lol.

I hate that fly poo thing.

We've had the house sprayed the past few years. I just looked up one Autumn and there were several flies settling down for a poop and a nap on my lounge ceiling which is rather high in some places. That was enough for me hygiene wise.

Ugh !

Hey everyone, I found this interesting looking critter in my garden last night. Any idea what it is? Couldn't tell if the big bulge at the back was an egg sack or just it's abdomen. Whatever it is...it was bloody fast on it's feet!

Sorry for poor photos but hopefully they are good enough to recognise it.

Looks like the Avondale spider. I may be wrong

Speaking of spiders, I had an encounter with a katipo yesterday. Being close to the beach, I did think perhaps one day I may see one. For some reason this Katipo left the sand-dunes between Pegasus and Pegasus Beach for my house. At first, I thought it was a redback but then it was way too tiny to be one of those.

I've dealt with Huntsmans and White Tails but never a Katipo. Having to trap it was fun before taking it to its natural habitat. Safe to say I didn't get bitten by the little thing so cannot compare its bite to a White Tail and False Widow.

Avondale are at least as big as dinner plates LOL - that's just a normal everyday house spider I'm afraid.

As per white tail spiders - yes the white dot is very hard to see but an easier way to recognise it is its shape, very distinctive. I've learnt what it looks like and can spot one 6 feet away. Got bitten by one 11 years ago, picked it up with my fingers and the thing bit me, bloody painful, but no hole or swelling or anything. Hurt for 18 hours though. Also don't leave clothes lying on the floor they love those. We find them all over the place in Palmerston North, never noticed them in Auckland but then I didn't know what they were or what they looked like. They particularly like window frames eg they often scuttle out when opening a window.

Ewwwww spiders are just foul. I murder every one I can find, except Daddy Longlegs - i don't get freaked by those for some reason. Have been bitten once by a White Tail and it was very painful. The wound stayed tender for a couple of weeks.

Ants are a constant pain for me - they come in the bathroom all the time and we've had the odd attack is various places. Quite a few roaming in the garage. Baiting doesnt do the trick and i use fly spray inside the house. Bazillions outside so close to the house. It's so dry and sandy nothing will work. I didnt know about ants until i got to the coast..naive move on my part haha!

luckily we don't have ants in the house, another member in the next road over had had problems with them but think she has managed to clear them up now.

Me I hate the blinkin cockroaches, luckily don't often see them alive as the Mortien spray works well but if I do find one I just spray them.
