"Australia and New Zealand" uttered in the same breath misleads the World
The Per Capita Income of
New Zealand: $ 36,648/annum
Australia: $ 65,477/annum
UK: $ 38,892/annum
the above figures are all in USD for the sake of comparison.
"Australia and New Zealand" uttered in the same breath misleads the World.
Where does NZ belong?
in the realm of Australia - no way !!!
in the realm of Fiji, Samoa, etc. - maybe - big daddy of pacific islands
NZ job expos are regularly held in UK - why Not in Australia? (aussies would not even need a visa).
UK 's per capita income is only 6% higher than that of New Zealand, that of Australia is almost double.
The good image of NZ as a decent developed nation is because the outside world still refers to NZ as "Australia & New Zealand".
These Kiwis love to bitch about Australia even though many of them end up working in Australia because of the acute misery displayed by most kiwi employers.
When the English were migrating to Oz, the Scots choose nearby NZ to maintain that customary " difference ".

ANZ has become a well known term referred globally.
Change the name to Maori Land or something - New Zealand appears as niche as New York or New South Wales.
I visited United States a little while ago and the Americans (who have never visited this part of the world) consider NZ as an extension of Australia - I corrected their mis-perceptions somewhat.

What's your point Mr *cough* Troll...Er ...Msi Geek?
We are doing alright.
It's known as Australia and New Zealand, because if there is a war then the Ozzies will be saved by a boatload of Maori's doing a haka.
Go ANZAC.

Australia is an Ally, New Zealand is just a Friend (all because of that ship that ran on Nuclear Power being refused.)
I am really curious to know if there is a Special American Work Visa for kiwis - as there is a special E3 Visa for aussies.

Good on New Zealand, principles over politics. Have you got a list for that?

Some of this simply comes down to the very high value of the Oz dollar.
Assuming your figures are correct, if you are going to convert incomes to US dollar, you also have to convert Cost of Living to US dollars. It's not as simple as your conclusion suggests because Australia may have one of the highest per capita incomes in the world (US dollars), but it also has officially one of (if not the highest) Cost of Livings in the world (US dollars).
If you are going to live there, you also have to consider what it will cost (ie what your day to day expenses are in US dollars).
Also, because NZ's and UK's per capita incomes are very similar (according to your figures) are you suggesting that the UK is not a 'good developed country' too? And for that matter many of the other countries of Europe with similar per capita incomes (in US dollars) to NZ.
Thirdly, if you say, for example, that a plumber in Australia has a higher income than a plumber in either NZ of UK, where does that extra income from? Does it come out of thin air? The consumer pays for it, don't they. It's an increased cost that has to be factored in.

Look, I don't really get this sort of post or poster. Clearly this person has issues with their life in NZ; they're not happy here, so why not discuss or problem solve or even just have a good old rant about those actual issues (bet most of us would find something in it to sympathise with)? This kind of aggressive cryptic generic rant about NZ being some sort of inferior trickster of a country is pointless and all that pent up anger is going to cause health problems.

1. Luxembourg - $ 113,533
2. Norway - $ 97,254
Ofcourse, Norway has the highest human development index ranking in the world but is ranked second behind Luxembourg

Ha ha, I agree. It really irks me when people don't like NZ and turn it into it's all NZ's fault- everything about NZ is dire and people here must be stupid and just need to see the stats and they'll realise how bad it really is etc, etc. You need to look a little closer to home to see some of the real reasons for why you're unhappy.
