Auckland Earthquake
I predict one soon
Enough to topple the sky tower?
All those recent (20 years) sand based sections
At least a 5.2 but shallow and even tsunami for beach fronts

Re: Auckland Earthquake
I have lived in Auckland for nearly eight years now and in that time I have noticed two earthquakes.
For the first one I heard a loud crash that sounded like a heavy machinery collision outside.
During the second one the flowers in a jar on my dining table started to quiver slightly.
I have not heard any tales of earthquakes from Auckland's past so not sure that there is too much to worry about from them.
On the other hand - there is plenty of evidence of previous volcanic eruptions so we can expect another one of them one day and it will be like Pompeii.

Blimey Parnell, it's as if you're almost willing it to happen.
Has someone pissed you off ?

Re: Auckland Earthquake
The Sky Tower is engineered to cope up to a mag 8.0. Thankyou weird fact brain.
Anyway, if a smack bang 6.3 with massive liquefaction can fail to (completely) level Christchurch I doubt a 5.2 will do all that much especially on all that volcanic rock.

Re: Auckland Earthquake
Yes and neither are Christchurch's.
Anyway I'm at the wrong end of a night shift so I think I'm gonna bow out here.
My parting hope is that no one gets a big earthquake today and that when we do we are prepared and we'll supported by our fellow Kiwis.
