$50/hr in Auckland
Is $50/hr contract job in Auckland good enough ? I just did a simple calculation of (50*8*20)*0.67 - $50/hr , working for 8 hrs a day , 20 days /month, and finally deducting 33% tax - comes to $5360/month.
Thus, am assuming that one would get $5360 each month after deduction. Also, am assuming this is pretty decent money to live in Auckland.
Is my assumption correct?

You can survive on $1000 per week in Auckland
Whether that is living is over to your circumstances and preferences.
An extra $200 per week on top of that? Guess over 10 weeks you would have saved $2,000

'Decent' is of course subjective depending on how many folks you're supporting and the standard of living you want or are used to but $100k is a good starting point.
The $50 rate however is not indicative of what you might earn on for
a permanent role, as it will have holiday pay built in.

$50 an hour should be OK, yes. Obviously particular circumstances will dictate the standard of living overall though.
