Default Where to send my children to school

I am relocating to Eindhoven with my two sons aged 13 and 8 in August and am looking for schools for them to attend. I don't want to send them to international school as we will be residing here petmanently. I want them to go to mainstream dutch schools ASAP. They speak no Dutch yet so am looking for the best places form to meet new friends also. We're in the Strijp area.

The gemeente guide is a start, but your neighbours are a better start. Go to a local park and ask around (hint: as a general rule, the men are happier to use English than the women).

Eindhoven (specifially, Philips and its service companies) have many internationals. If you/your partner have colleagues, this is also a good place to get recommendations. You have time - it's almost the summer holidays here. Failing that, try something like Home - The Hub Eindhoven for Expats

For your children's sake, I would visit a couple of local schools: ask what methods they use to teach Dutch to newcomers and the percentages of leavers who enter VWO/HAVO/VMBO, and be guided by instinct about which is most confident with their answers People you meet will always be happy to give the benefit of their opinion on the best schools, which may just back up your own initial thoughts.
