Default Ongoing pain treatment cost?

Hi

I'm researching the possibility of moving to the Netherlands, but having some issues understanding health care costs.

Currently I receive local anaesthetic trigger point injections for neuropathic pain in my core muscle every 4 months. This treatment is provided by the NHS and I'd like to understand to cost of receiving this treatment before moving forward with job hunting.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide 😀

If you can get your GP to refer you to hospital's pain clinic for these, and if you can find a hospital who would be willing to do this, it should be covered under your basic health insurance. If you have treatment that is deemed necessary, it will be covered. If it is deemed unnecessary or is not covered and you have to pay yourself, then ask for a quotation before deciding. If you do move, I'd advise bringing a letter of introduction from your UK GP with a list of your medical needs.

Do not be surprised or shocked if a doctor here prescribes you something more 'green' for neuropathic pain. It's available in forms which won't get you high because its grown only for its pain-reducing attributes.

Thank you for the quick an informative response Red_Wine_Fairy

I'm open to trying new treatments, I've looked into the treatment you have described but here it is very, very expensive and difficult to get prescribed. They'll be no issue getting a referral letter from my doctor here.

Thanks again for you help, that's a worry off my mind
