Living in Eindhoven and surrounding areas
Hi All,
I may have an oppotunity of starting a new position with a company based in Veldhoven and was wondering what the general area is like for housing etc. Also if anyone as a URL of estate agents it would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Ken

Type in the area you are looking at, it will give you plenty of choice.
Don't know the area myself unfortunately, so I can't really help you with more info.
If I get the chance, i'll see if I can look something up for you.
Paul.

I've had a quick look to see if I can find anything in English about Veldhoven, but so far everything is in Dutch. It does look very nice I must admit. It is in Brabant which is an area with more space, and not quite such a hectic lifestyle as other area of Holland.
When I can find anything, ill drop you a line. If you have any general questions about Holland, just drop me a line.
Paul.

Ken,
I've been living in Eindhoven for several years because of my work. To be honest Eindhoven is not the most exciting or pretty place. It's more a centre for technology and so is swamped by IT nerds I see from your previous posts you lived in Nijmegen. From my experience Nijmegen is full of girls and Eindhoven is full of guys!
Veldhoven is a quiet well-healed area with lots of houses (but not a lot else) which really just runs into Eindhoven.
Some housing agencies for quick (but expensive) housing are:
www.rotsvast.nl
www.kempen-og.nl
www.directwonen.nl
Hope that helps. Check out the discussion forums in the Netherlands section of www.expatica.com for life in NL.

We used to live out that way (we're now in Australia!) We spent 3 months in Maahaaze (can't remember the spelling). V. pretty, especially if you get a house in the surrounding forest. Great bike rides to surrounding villages, but the village itself seemed to be full of old folk. We then moved to Nuenen. Fab place, great restaurants, market & surrounding country side - loved living there & would highly recommend it. They even have their own little lake where you can swim & take out paddle boats. Mind you, stay south of the lake area, the northern part of it was set aside for nudists!
Good luck.
Good luck.

One of my friends lives in Waalre and works in Veldhoven (ASML). He rides his bicycle to and from work. The area isn't that big and you're usually faster by bike than by car during rushhour.
What sort of house are you looking for? Buy or rent? How big is your family?
I studied and I've got quite a few friends living in and around Eindhoven so maybe I can help you with your questions.

Hi Toontje,
I am also hoping to secure a position at ASML but they seem to be dragging their heals a bit. At first my family will not becoming as my youngest is taken his GCSE's next year.
regarding housing, I would proberly rent for a period of time. That way I can move to different location till I find a one were I would won't to settle down.

Ken
