There are many for sale; prices range from 100,000 to 500,000.
Generally speaking, a houseboat will cost 10-20% less than a house /apartment in the same neighborhood and in a similar condition.
Prices are 20-30% down from the 2008 peak.
Financing has become a lot tighter.
Although they cost less to buy, houseboats rent out for the same price as or more than an equivalent apartment.

Yes, many people expect houseboats to be a cheap alternative; they were, 20 years ago.
But since they're essentially property, they cost as much as property.
