Where to stay in London?

Re: Where to stay in London?
We just stayed at the Hilton Tower for 100 quid a night, that was on sale and we prepaid months before. So keep an eye open for sales at some of the big hotels.
One of my favourite places is at the Glenlyn in Woodside park, http://www.glenlynhotel.com/ it's about 15 min from Piccadilly on the Northern line. Very handy , great buffet breakfast, nice and quiet and around 85 quid a night in summer. Check them out on Tripadvisor.

Just thinking, if you want to stay for free, look into this..... https://creditcards.chase.com/lp9/hy...Q15-1t1-VQ16-c
We stayed at the Hyatt Churchill for 1 night , it usually costs around $750 a night , we paid ..... Zero
Ask Tonrob for more details , or check out the travelling for free thread.

Re: Where to stay in London?
Of all the replies I like the Easy Hotels one best. I'll try one of them next time my wife and/or I stop over in London.

Nah, the Easy hotels are just a little TOO basic for us! We're not 20 any more!!
It would be nice to have a few creature comforts - like free linens and free TV for the times we're too tired to go anywhere. I know it's just three nights, but there are limits!
Having said that, there are some really expensive options out there and, it seems, the more the room costs, the less likely it is to include breakfast. There's something very odd there!!

Ah well, it depends on your priorities. My wife and I are both over 70, but we'll try one of them out. It'll get us used to conditions in the Old Folks' Workhouse, I guess...

If you plan on spending a lot of time in your room it would get a little claustrophobic.

I stay at a small hotel near Gloucester Road tube stop called the Park City. Pretty good, and a Sainsburys nearby so you can get cheaper food than eating in restaurants all the time.

If you are your wife are ex-military, you could always stay at the Union Jack Club or the Liberty Services Club, that's what I do if I stay in town when I'm there.

Yup, that's the one. I usually use the Union Jack Club as it's more convenient for me, near Waterloo Station. The Victory Services Club is at the beginning of Oxford Street, I think, near Hyde Park/Park Lane, isn't it? Good location.

Yes, the UJC is a better location in many ways, but I have heard it's a bit more 'military' in style than VSC.
Next family trip, we are going to try the UJC for a change, so I'll see what it is like for myself

Re: Where to stay in London?
Nope, neither of us is ex-military, so that's not an option.
I told the wife last night that she needs to give me an idea of what she'd like to see while we're there and I'll tell her what's possible and what's not. Depending on her answers, I'll actively look at hotels that are convenient to what she wants to do (e.g. near the Tower if that's important or closer to the West End if that's the priority).
Gotta find something in Milton Keynes, too (for the first two and last two nights - near parents).
