What's happened to me?!?!?
I've been walking about 12 to 15 miles a week with the pups and now I've started a "couch to 5k" running podcast program (on the NHS website)
Clearly the fresh air and Kent countryside have sent me loopy!!!!!

Lovely!!! I hope to follow in your "footsteps" (lol) sooner rather than later. I have to be out the door at the crack of dawn if I am to get a decent hour and a half walk in. Early summer in Florida...ugh

Well done. Couch to 5k is supposed to be a great program. I hope you get to run in a 5k soon

I have been walking for years now and took the plunge to learn to run and even signed up for a 5km race in July. Two weeks in and I have a stress fracture in my leg so looks like that race isn't going to happen
So enjoy the training and be careful!

Yikes! Sorry to hear that. The Couch to 5K program is a really slow build up so hopefully I should be fine. Also I had my gait checked at a specialist store to make sure I'm wearing the correct shoes. I had heart surgery 10 years ago and I also have metal bolts in my feet (to correct flat feet) so I"m SUPER careful about not causing any issues but I've been given the all clear by all specialists (heart and feet!)

Good on you! Living in UK has sent me loopy too - I walk 5-10 miles every day that I don't go to the gym. I'm wondering about running but at 64 think I'm probably too old to think about starting! I do rather like the idea of couch to 5k though!

Well done....I have always been sporty and love to walk (my fav. pastime) now back at home I walk twice a day in stunning countryside in all kinds of weather I have also started to jog (not to keen though lol) but I certainly feel better for it.

Briiliant! I need to get off the couch as my waistline is growing in the wrong direction. Hope life is treating you well.

My nephew ran his first 5K yesterday. I am so proud of him. He went from being addicted to heroin and was in a mess a few years ago. He has changed his life around and he did the "couch to 5k" thing and he said its easy to follow and fun. I told him I might just have to have a go at it..

That's great! I'm up to 14 miles a week on average, but running is out of the question for me here I'm afraid. There are no flat walks, everything is up and down steep hills. I'm lucky if I can hobble up without having a heart attack and then get down without putting out a knee

Well done! I am nowhere near as fit but have 1) done lots of gardening which makes everything ache, so must be good, and 2) joined a gym. The gym is interesting, a guilt free excuse to watch as much telly as I like because I am also on the rowing machine or the treadmill.

Re: What's happened to me?!?!?
Yeah it's pretty hilly here (NW Kent) but I've found some relatively flat areas in the woods. I prefer the solitude of running on the trails. I can't be dealing with all the traffic on the street - doesn't help we live off the A25 which gets all the "spare" traffic from the M25! Bastards!!!!!!!! Luckily it's not that close to us but if I wanted to run on regular pavements then the A25 is my only option until I get into town
So trails it is for me - which is uneven but just makes me think harder about foot placement!!!!
Thanks to the weather and auditions I've only JUST finished week 2. I've also found a different couch to 5k podcast to listen to just to mix it up a bit.
It seems that everyone who's moved back has taken up walking. It's great. 14 miles sallysimmons - that's awesome. And I don't blame you for not wanting to run!!!
lf1 - life is good thanks. Still no job for either of us but we're definitely feeling positive! How are you guys doing? Growing waistlines I can sympathize with!!! Too many good things to eat
Morayeel - that's amazing about your nephew! Good for him. It really is fun so if you get a chance give it a go!!!!
Tr1boy - DEFINITELY slower than 20 mins!! Sorry!
