Visa for family member from India?
Hi Guys,
Bit of a personal issue so will keep it brief. My mom moved to the UK about 30years ago. Her mother lives in India (they haven't seen each other since).
My mom is in her mid 50's and her mother is now getting quite old which my mom is worried about as her father passed away a few months ago.
Her mom (never been abroad and doesn't have a steady income. Struggles with some basic weekly tasks) has recently got a Passport which I think my mom has paid for.
She wants to bring her mother to the UK for a few months and look after her and basically just make her life easier. I make about 19k per annum and my mom is on about 14k (not sure if that's any help).
What would be the best way to do this?. I had a look at the UK Visa website and thought a regular tourist visa would be ok but the site lists that her mother would need proof of income (wage slips for example) which her mother wouldn't have at all.
Obviously this is a bit more personal than just a standard family member visiting for 2wks so not sure what to apply for. We're quite happy to pay for her flights here + food + basically anything she needs. Any suggestions would be great.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I only just found out about all this in the past day or so.

On the other hand, if your maternal grandmother wants to move to the UK, she will need a family visa. Please see link below for details -

As you can see from the above link, family visa is not that easy to get.

If your maternal grandmother will return to India after the visit, she will need a visitor visa. You need to show the British ECO that she has links in India and she will return to India after her visit to the UK.

If this is the case, a regular tourist visa will be fine. However, your maternal grandmother needs to convince the Entry Clearance Officer that she has links in India and she will return to India after her visit to the UK.

That should be easy enough. She has all of her family there (except my mom obviously) and all her possessions. Thanks for the help. I'll let my mom know when i see her next.
