Shipping a car?
Try http://autoshippers.co.uk/, or http://www.import-car.info/, or http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/exptimpt.htm

Need a USA Guide to FAQ's about Britain? Everything from the education system to buying and renting property:
Try http://www.britainusa.com/faq/index2.asp, or http://www.avatar-moving.com/kb/doc_uk.html

And lastly, this company: http://www.wheatonworldwide.com/agents/ did a fantastic job of shipping me back to the U.K.

Thumbs up Re: Useful U.K Links

Here's another UK site I came across.

It's a UK govt. site with a complete section on Britons returning to live in the UK....with a checklist on whom to notify/register with, education, healthcare, passports, taking pets into the UK, registering to vote (important to do this as the credit rating agencies in the UK eg. Experian, Equifax etc. check the electoral roll to see if you're on it and lenders use this when deciding to allow you any credit - even then they often like you to have been registered on the electoral roll for six months) and importing a car to the UK:

Expats moving or returning to the UK and having difficulty arranging a mortgage (eg. due to no recent UK credit history) may be able to find one via these insurance brokers:

http://www.expatriate-mortgages.co.uk

(Note: I have no links with these brokers and haven't used them - caveat emptor).

Nope, £15 nowadays ! Everything's done online as well, they don't accept paper applications anymore. Where did you end up going?
