hello all, thanks for the info in this Expat mortgage thread.

Has anyone actually used and will recommend a single lender ? I'm hitting my head against the wall, I'd appreciate any further info.

Skipton want a £999 application fee --- owch, and no guarantee they'll commit.

I'm getting conflicting answers from HSBC of no, and maybe. They haven't (yet??) confirmed they lend to expats for UK property. Has anyone actually got a UK mortgage from them as an Expat ?

Natwest person told me one needs to reside in UK for a Buy-to-Let mortgage, so they're advertising doesn't ring true ?

Interested if anyone has found any other lenders than HSBC premier - as we are not a customer we do not earn enough to qualify for their loans. I've been trying mortgage brokers but no luck yet (even with the expat ones).

Should have said we are specifically looking for a buy-to-let mortgage for Northern ireland as an expat.

We are looking to move to Bermuda. Our current lenders will not let us remortgage on the basis that they only lend to UK residents.
Would like to hear more about expat residential and expat BTL, both purchase and remortgage.
