UK Marriage Certificate

My UK fiancé is trying to obtain an "official" copy of his marriage cert from his
first marriage (he had to turn the original over to the court in the divorce). I got
this info from the FAQ page on the British Embassy in the US website.
26. How can I obtain an exact (original copy) of my original UK birth/marriage
certificate?
From the General Register Office whose address is PO Box 2, Southport, Merseyside PR8
2JD for postal applications. You can apply in person at St Catherine's House, 10
Kingsway, London WC2B 6JP and collect certificates on the fourth working day
following your visit or have certificates posted to any address supplied. A priority
service is available by phoning 0151 471 4524 or faxing 0151 471 4368 (UK codes -
from USA dial 011 44 151 471
26/1). You will need to have a credit/debit card for this service.
Since he didn't know the cost, he has been trying to call the phone number to
inquire/order copies. The number continually rings busy, the one time someone
answered, they picked it up and hung up.
He has a copy, would that be enough for the K-1 interview? I can understand them
needing the marriage cert on a woman (to trace the name change), but why do they even
need it for a man? (I know, just because they want it)
Any suggestions? Or does someone know the current cost, then he can order by mail
with a check.
Thanks

Debbie,
I found this link here, which I figured would be useful:
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/nsbase/...rtificates.asp
As far as I can tell, they're £11 for the first copy, £6.50 for extra copies.
Good luck (and Merry Christmas!),

For my birth certificate I went to the registrar of births and deaths for the area I
was born in the UK, for the marriage certificate, I went to the registrar of the area
where I got married (they did this whilst I waited). Both these could be dealt with
by telephone and came a few days after the cheque was received. They cost
approximately five pounds each.
